Metal Braces
Traditional Metal Braces
Traditional metal braces are the most common type of braces our patients choose at Gibbs Orthodontic Associates in Manhattan. The advances made in orthodontic care mean that metal braces more comfortable today than ever before! Made of high-grade stainless steel, metal braces straighten your teeth using brackets that Dr. Gibbs or Dr. Marchi attaches to your teeth and connected with archwires. You can also add colored rubber bands for a more unique and colorful smile!
Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces, also called clear braces, are made of clear materials that are less visible on your teeth than metal braces. Because of this, Dr. Gibbs and Dr. Marchi suggest that older teenagers, adult patients and others with cosmetic concerns consider ceramic braces. While ceramic braces stand out a lot less than other types of braces, they do require more attention to oral hygiene since the brackets are larger and more brittle than their metal counterparts. For these reasons, our orthodontists tend to use ceramic braces on upper front teeth than on lower teeth.
Invisible Braces
Invisalign®
Invisalign® uses a series of invisible and removable aligners to straighten your teeth. The best part about Invisalign? No one can tell you are wearing Invisalign because it's invisible! They are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing are less of a hassle. The aligners are comfortable and have no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment.
